Job Title: Fiber Optic Cable Technician

Job Overview

Security SCG is looking for an experienced Fiber Optic Cable Technician to support the installation and maintenance of fiber-based systems for security and surveillance networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in splicing, testing, and terminating fiber optic cables, along with the ability to work independently at various project sites.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables in commercial and industrial environments

  • Conduct OTDR, light source, and power meter testing for signal verification

  • Perform fiber routing, cable pulling, labeling, and termination using proper tools

  • Troubleshoot and repair damaged or faulty fiber lines

  • Ensure all work meets industry standards, client requirements, and safety guidelines

  • Maintain documentation of splicing records, test results, and site reports

  • Collaborate with security installation teams to connect fiber for IP camera and networking solutions

  • Work on ladders, in confined spaces, or outdoor conditions as required


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in fiber optic cabling, splicing, and testing

  • Strong knowledge of OTDR usage, fiber loss budgets, and network signal troubleshooting

  • Experience with single-mode and multi-mode fiber installation

  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and fiber routing plans

  • Familiarity with fusion splicers, cleavers, light sources, and other fiber tools

  • Comfortable working at heights and in diverse environments

  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation

  • Excellent time management and attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications

  • Fiber optic certification (e.g., FOA, BICSI, or manufacturer training)

  • Experience in low-voltage wiring and security systems integration

  • Knowledge of safety protocols for underground or aerial fiber work
